Transfiguration

Dedicated to Luisa Brown-Hernandez

Transfiguration is a simple, unadorned composition reflecting on both the joys and challenges of change. The ‘transfiguration’ in the title I hope refers to the feelings we get as we look back on a chapter of life closing and forward to a new one opening; that the love, loss, joy, heartbreak, change, and wonder we experienced can be appreciated for what it is, and folded into a part of our humanity to take to our next station in life. It is a recognition that it is never not worth it to try, to fail, to love someone or something, even (and in a way, especially) if it ends – that the very temporality of something as precious as love is what makes it meaningful.
